AUTHOR'S GUIDELINES

Thank you very much for your interest in contributing to Infectious Disease Special Edition. The following information will give you some general guidelines for article submission.

Text

The text portion of the article should be about 1800 words long, approximately, and conform to AMA style, if possible. You may submit the article via email or on a diskette. We can translate most word processing programs, but ask beforehand if you use an unusual one.

Tables, Algorithms

We greatly encourage inclusion of graphical summaries of information. If the table or algorithm is complicated, a handwritten model of the design is welcome. With algorithms, remember to include directional lines, and ensure that every possibility reaches an endpoint.

Graphics

Digital images are ideal, but slides, illustrations, photos are welcome. Call to enquire which formats (eg, EPS, JPEG, Photoshop, PixelPaint, TIFF, etc.) we can use. X-rays should be reformatted as slides before submission, if possible. Please include captions with all graphics, and in the case of X-rays, an indication of up-down and front-back.

References

References should be included where appropriate, and submitted in AMA style, e.g.:
1.Cosgrove SE. The relationship between antimicrobial resistance and patient outcomes: mortality, length of hospital stay, and health care costs. Clin Infect Dis. 2006;42(suppl 2):S82-S89.

Deadlines

It is essential to meet your deadline. The publishing world has deadlines that must be met, and the published issue cannot wait for late editorial. If you are having trouble completing the assignment on time, please alert the appropriate editor as soon as you can; we may be able to help you get the review finished.

Copyright/Honorarium

We need you to sign our standard copyright form, which must include your social security number for payment of the honorarium.

Again, thanks very much.
